International Gay Rugby

Free for every IGR member club.

Openside was built for the Tsurumi Brats, an IGR member club in Tokyo. If your club is an IGR member too, hosting costs you nothing: the same site, the same support, your own domain. Sign up, tell us your club, and we'll confirm your membership.

How free hosting works

What your club gets

Built around the things a committee actually spends its time on.

New players

Turn "I've always wanted to try rugby" into a name on the team sheet.

Your training times, what a first session is like and the questions newcomers are shy to ask, on one page. They pick a session and get a confirmation email with a calendar invite straight away. You get the enquiry in a shared inbox, with reply templates in each of your languages.

  • A "come to training" form on every page
  • Confirmation emails with a calendar invite
  • One inbox for the committee, so nobody's left waiting

Match day

Fixtures, team sheets and results that look like they belong on TV.

Add the season's fixtures once, and fans can subscribe to them in their own calendar. Pick the side and it shows in formation on the pitch, for 15s, 10s, 7s or Touch. Afterwards, add the score and scorers, and link the match report.

  • A calendar feed fans subscribe to
  • Team sheets on the pitch, in formation
  • Scores, scorers and match reports, linked together

Sponsors

Sponsors who can see what they're paying for, and a reminder before they lapse.

Show sponsors by level and season, with their logos on the pages they paid for. Publish your sponsorship packages with an enquiry form, and get a reminder when a sponsorship is coming up for renewal. One small sponsor covers a year of hosting.

  • Sponsors by level, on the pages they support
  • "Become a sponsor" packages and enquiries
  • Renewal reminders, so no deal quietly ends

Languages

One site in English, Japanese and Chinese, written side by side.

International clubs shouldn't need two websites. Each page, post and fixture has a box for each of your languages next to each other, and visitors switch with one tap. Anything you haven't translated yet shows in your main language, so nothing is ever blank.

  • English, Japanese and Traditional Chinese, in any mix
  • Side-by-side editing in the admin
  • Untranslated pages fall back, never blank

And everything else a club needs

Tournaments

Listed before the draw is out, games grouped beneath once it is, kick-offs in the tournament's local time.

Squad and gallery

Players, coaches and committee, and photo albums with a lightbox. Players who'd rather not be shown stay hidden.

News and match reports

Posts link to the match, the tournament and the sponsors involved, and look right when shared on social media.

An admin that says what's next

New enquiries, results and reports to write, drafts, and content still missing a translation, on one dashboard.

How it works

From sign-up to kick-off in four steps.

  1. Sign up

Tell us your club's name, where you play and your languages. Pay by card, or apply as an IGR member club.

  2. Your site is created

At a temporary address, with demo content so you can see how it all works. Sign in to the admin and start filling it in.

  3. Work through the checklist

Point your domain, and set your crest and colours. Each step has a guide, and we check it's done for you.

  4. Go live

When every check is green, press Launch. Your site opens to everyone, on your own domain if you have one, and we look after it from there.

Privacy built in

Not everyone can be public. Your site doesn't make them.

Some players aren't out, some have jobs or families that mean they can't be online, and some just don't want to be. Your committee decides, person by person, who appears on the site, and the site keeps them off it.

  • Hide anyone from the site. Their name, photo and profile page don't appear, and they're left off the team page.

  • Still part of the team. On team sheets they show as "Squad player", with an empty marker on the pitch. Your committee still sees their name in the admin.

  • Photos you control. Keep whole albums off the site, and hide any player from the squad and gallery.

  • Private until you launch. While you set up, your site is behind a password only your committee knows.

  • Enquiries go to your club only. No adverts and no tracking scripts on your site.

  • Your club's data, your call. Download everything at any time. If you leave, it's deleted 30 days after your site is paused.

Hosting, handled

No servers, no plugins, no volunteer who's the only one who knows the password.

Committees change every year. The website shouldn't have to. Your club owns its content and its domain; we run everything underneath.

  • Your own domain, with a security certificate that renews itself.
  • Email that works from day one: training confirmations and enquiry replies, with replies coming back to your club.
  • Nightly backups of your content and photos, kept off the server.
  • New features as they ship, to every club, with no upgrades to run.
  • Fast on a phone, found by search engines, and tidy when shared on social media.

Built by a club

Openside started as the website for the Tsurumi Brats, an inclusive club for Greater Tokyo and Kanagawa. Every feature is one a committee actually asked for.

Questions

What committees ask us

What happens when our committee changes?

Nothing breaks. Add the new people as admins and remove the old ones; the site, the domain and the billing stay with the club, not with whoever set it up.

Can we leave, and take our content with us?

Yes. Download everything from your site's admin at any time: pages, posts, fixtures, players and photos. There's no contract beyond the month or year you've paid for.

Why not a free website builder, or a Facebook page?

You can, but you'd build fixtures, team sheets, sponsor pages and enquiry handling yourself, in one language, and someone has to keep it working. Here they're ready on day one, and we look after the rest.

Is it safe?

Every site has its own security certificate, nightly backups kept off the server, and updates we apply for you. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see card details.

Do we need our own domain?

No. Your site starts at a openside.club address and can stay there. If you'd like your own, our guides walk you through it.
